White House science nominee ducks chance to refute climate skeptic at Senate confirmation hearing

During the Senate hearing on his nomination to director of the White House Office of the Science and Technology Policy, Dr. Kelvin Droegemeier was questioned by Senator Ted Cruz about his views on climate change.  Dr. Droegemeier declined to respond definitively.  CSWCR Director Dr. David Titley comments on the question and response.

Ocean science agency chief floats removing ‘climate’ from mission statement, new focus on trade deficit

CSWCR Director comments on a leaked “Vision Setting” document from a NOAA administrator.

“Elections have consequences,” said David Titley, a professor of meteorology at Pennsylvania State University and the former chief operating officer of NOAA. “This is just another example of where the Trump administration is frankly emphasizing short-term aspects, such as economic growth, and de-emphasizing longer-term challenges, things that will be most apparent after their term, such as impacts on climate, conservation of marine resources.”

Panelists face off on climate change issues

“If you wait for 100 percent certainty, you’ll be 100 percent dead,” said David Titley.

CSWCR Director Dr. David Titley and Penn State Professor Dr. Michael Mann spoke at the University of Charleston (WV) about the reality of climate change.  The panel discussion, which also featured two contrarians, was covered by the Charleston Gazette-Mail.
